Just like seasons, I go through phases with food however strange that sounds. I was hopelessly addicted to smoothies ever since my New Zealand trip and was drinking perhaps one to two cups a day. From banana-strawberry smoothie to orange-berries smoothie, name it and I'd probably have tried it all. But since Bali, I've got a brand new indulgence and that's none other than everyone's favourite – Acai Bowl. I haven't quite got luck around Acai powder in Singapore but I've found some pretty damn amazing Acai Puree from Four Seasons Organic Market located in Great World City and you can imagine now that my entire freezer is packed with these goodies. That's not all. The ultimate Acai blend that I've brewed is necessary with Dragon fruit. It may seem like a strange tropical fruit but they're tasty! I loved the ones that are pink on the inside, otherwise known as Pitaya. Albeit it being a little hard to source in the regular supermarkets, the ones with white on the inside tastes nothing short of amazing as well. This precious fruit is low in sugar and high in fibre making it quite the perfect Monday digestion detox after a weekend of snacking on crap. Adding them to your Acai puree along with a frozen banana makes it quite the perfect concoction! Here's my own little twist to the classic Acai bowl recipe:
Makes 2 servings
100g Acai Puree
1 Frozen Banana
1 Frozen Dragonfruit
1/2 Cup of Coconut Water
1/2 tsp of Spirulina Powder
2 tsp of Granola
How to make:
1. Add all of the ingredients to a high powered blender.
2. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
3. Pour blend into a bowl.
4. Top with toppings.
5. Dig in with a spoon and a good read.
